About The Scheme Brief

Our reader works in or around the scheme: disability service providers, especially the small and regional operators who make up most of the market; allied health professionals serving NDIS participants; assistive technology and home modification suppliers; plan managers and support coordinators; and the advocates, researchers and policy-watchers who need the record straight. The name is the sector’s own shorthand, because “the Scheme” is what the people who work in it actually call it.

The premise is simple: this sector is documented to an extraordinary degree, and almost nobody reads the documents whole. The NDIS Commission publishes every enforcement action it takes. The NDIA publishes its prices, its quarterly performance and its market datasets. The Parliament publishes the Bills and the committee record. The reform program publishes its commencement dates. We read those primary sources end to end, do the counting ourselves, and report what the record actually shows, with every factual claim linked to the document we read. Where a story turns on numbers, it carries a methodology note. Where organisations disagree, they appear side by side in their own words.
