The short version: reading this site sends nothing about you to anyone else, and the only personal information we ever hold is what you type into a form yourself.
Reading the site
Pages here load no third-party scripts, no fonts from external services, no analytics beacons, no social-media embeds and no advertising trackers. Every asset, including our typefaces, is served from this site. We do not set cookies to read the news. Our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) processes IP addresses transiently to serve pages and defend against abuse, as all web hosting does; we do not use it to profile readers.
Forms you choose to send
The tips, corrections and advertising forms store exactly what you submit, so we can act on it. For tips and corrections, name and contact details are optional by design: source protection matters more to us than attribution. Attached documents are stored privately, are never published or linked publicly, and are automatically deleted after 30 days. Advertising enquiries ask for business contact details because they start a business conversation.
What we publish about people
Our editorial rules are themselves a privacy position: we do not publish participants’ stories or personal information, and individuals appear in our reporting only as a regulator, court or their own organisation has published them in a public role. The full rules are at how this site works.
